With almost 10 million digital receivers in use in Japan, without doubt
hi-def broadcasting is a hit in Japan.
On Demand TV Japan will be starting high definition 1080i video on demand
using the H.264 codec (8 Mbps) VOD with 5.1 channel AAC sound. E-Station will be
offering the high-def adult content, the service will go live from early July.
Depending on the title a fee will be charged starting from 400 Yen ($ 3.5).
The
service was announced by Japanese AV idols
Sora Aoi and
Mieko Arai.
