AT&T, looking for ways to expand its business, may purchase a wireless network operator abroad. Citing people familiar with AT&T's plans, the
Wall Street Journal reports that AT&T is targeting carriers in Western European markets, such as the U.K., the Netherlands, or Germany. AT&T's business has grown about as large as it can in the U.S., especially after U.S. regulators shot down its proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA. The Journal's sources suggest that if an acquisition occurs, it is likely to happen before the end of the year. AT&T did not confirm the Journal's report.
