In a
press release, Comcast said the 305 Mbps speed would be offered to markets in the northeastern portion of the US under the name Xfinity Platinum Internet. Upload speeds for this new tier will be 65 Mbps. That would make it just slightly faster than Verizon's recently launched upper limit of 300 Mbps for downloads and up to 65 Mbps for uploads for its FiOS service. While pricing for the new Comcast service was not announced in the press release, Multichannelnews.com reports that it will cost $299.95 per month.
In addition, Comcast said:" ... Xfinity Blast! customers will now get download speeds of up to 50 Mbps (formerly 25 Mbps), and Extreme 50 customers will now receive speeds of up to 105 Mbps (formerly 50 Mbps)." These new speed increases will come at no additional cost.
