The streaming video content service announced this morning that a Netflix application is available in the Wii Shop Channel. The free application installs Netflix on the Wii menu, allowing users to directly stream video content to the Wii. Prior to this, users had to insert a disc before launching Netflix on the Wii and PS3. Naturally, users need to have a Netflix account to use the service, and must activate the accounts via the Netflix web site. Netflix membership plans start at $8.99 a month ($7.99 in Canada). Netflix for PS3 offers Dolby Digital Plus support (7.1 channels of surround sound), and Blu-Ray quality video. |
