A
paper on the AMD website has given away the specification of the upcoming
Athlon 64 5000+ processor.
The PDF, which is designed for engineers investigating the thermal
properties of AMD processors, was revised this month to include the 5000+.
Pertinent points include: 2.6GHz clock speed, Dual core, 1MB cache, 110W power
consumption - basically, then, an FX-60 with less cache. No word on when the
5000+ is going to appear yet, but if it's appearing in documents this month then
we have to assume it will kick off in the next month or so. Interested in
the 5000+, or will you be holding off until AM2?
