Intels Coffee Lake Core i7 & i5 CPUs will require new mobos - [briefly]
02:21 PM EDT - Aug,03 2017 - post a comment

And it appears that Intel has dropped the ball. A couple of days ago, we informed you about the full specs of the new upcoming Intel Coffee Lake i7 & i5 CPUs. These new processors will be using the LGA1151 socket, however it appears that they won't be compatible with the LGA1151 motherboards that are currently available. This information comes straight from ASRock. When a user asked whether these new CPUs will be compatible with ASRock's LGA1151 motherboards, ASRock replied and confirmed that the Coffee Lake CPUs will require new motherboards. What's interesting here is that ASRock has deleted this post. Perhaps the company leaked something that Intel was not ready to reveal yet?
